This one of my watercolour paintings. It is done with watercolour pencils and black marker.

This picture represents Jesus Christ as the Light of the World. If you look carefully, you will see a cross with a candle inside. The candle represents Jesus as the Light of the World. The candle has what appears to be blue wings in it...this represents the Holy Spirt. Outside the Cross you will see many repeating lines. These represent the Father.

Out of each point of the cross you will notice rushing colours and shapes. These represent the infinite ways in which the Cross works in our lives. I have attempt to display, in colour and form, the power of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I hope this helps and that this piece of art touches someone...somewhere...somehow! Thank you for allowing me to share. All comments and advanced critiques are welcome!

Hello Alison - this piece is SO beautiful! I'm looking for art work for a bulletin cover for our church's children's Christmas program in a few weeks. I'd love to have permission to feature this "Light of the World" piece as it fits perfectly with our program's theme. What do you say? We'll give you full credit and publish the link to this page. Peace!

Hi Alison Burrow

My name is Paul and I am currently working on a job for Christ Church in Preston, who are creating a 'stained glass window' for a float using your artwork - Light of the world, for which you have very kindly given your permission.

Is there any chance that you could send me a higher resolution digital file, as I am going up to 6' x 8' and the image I have gets very pixelated at this size.

I've tried to contact you on above email with no success. I hope you can help, and again thank you for letting us use this.

Best regards
Paul

Hello Paul. If you go to this picture in my gallery I have changed it to the biggest size possible and have made it downloadable for you from there. Try to download it and then please let me know if it's any better. The original painting is only 10" x 13" so I am limited as to how big I can make this. My email is maburrow@sympatico.ca (not sure why you couldn't reach me on it). Contact me again if you have any trouble and we'll see what we can do. And of course, if it works I would LOVE to see some pictures of the finished product!

Hi, our church is in Preston, England. In September 2012 the city celebrates Preston Guild. This only happens every 20 years. Our church is taking part in the churches procession, our theme is Light of the World. We would love to use your design for a 'stained glass' window on the float (lorry) and for a banner which afterwards would be hung in church. We are very excited to have such a meaningful and colourful centrepiece to our celebrations. I would be thrilled to send photo's. Thank you for your agreement in letting us use this picture.
